VISION

To uplift socio-economically the livestock and poultry raisers status in Region VIII by ensuring quality feeds and prevent the proliferation of adulterated feeds in the market.

MANDATE

To enforce R.A. 1556 (Livestock & Poultry Feeds Act) which is an act to regulate and control the manufacture and sale of livestock and poultry feeds.

MISSION

To improve the quality of life of livestock raisers by increasing animal production through effective feed quality control program.

FUNCTIONS

1.       Collect feed samples from feed establishments/feed mills for crude protein analysis, ash and moisture determination.

2.       Monitor and interpret results of feed sample analyses collected from feed establishments/feed mills.

OTHER INFORMATION

 The Regional Feeds Laboratory of Region VIII was constructed in 1983 primarily to enforce R.A. 1556. It only analyzed crude protein until year 2000 because it did not have the necessary equipment  to do the proximate feed analysis. The Lab was only able to purchase the equipment for ash & moisture determination using the capital outlay of CY 2000 & 2001. Hopefully, this second week of March 2001, the Technical Staff will be trained on the Proximate Analysis of Feeds at Cebu Regional Feeds Laboratory.
