Station Profile RESEARCH OUTREACH STATION
FOR FISHERIES DEVELOPMENT MANDATEØ To generate, adapt and popularize aquaculture, capture and postharvest technologies and resource management information, produce quality germplasm and provide technical assistance for the development of a sustainable fisheries industry in Eastern Visayas.
DEVELOPMENT GOALØ To provide an environment through which the standard of living of our fisherfolk is improved without compromising the integrity of our fishery resources.
FUNCTIONSØ Develop culture, capture and postharvest technologies of priority aquatic species. Ø Evaluate results of technology verification trials and identify technology gaps and constraints. Ø Undertake resource and ecological assessment of priority bays and provide information for resource management. Ø Serve as Farmer’s Information Technology Services (FITS) outreach site. Ø Provide the local government units through: § Technical assistance in the on-site R & D projects. § Technical assistance in the conduct of training program in coordination with the Regional Fisheries Training Center (RFTC) based in Catbalogan, W. Samar. § Assist in the research commercialization projects.
